• The Kookaburra is a member of the kingfisher family.
• It’s the largest of its family. It can grow up to 18 inches long!
• Even though most kingfishers dive for and eat fish, the Kookaburra prefers insects and mice. It even preys on small reptiles and snakes.
• Kookaburras sound their call loudly at dawn and dusk. Its calls have been known as the ‘Bushman’s Clock’.
• The bird is famous for having a loud call which sounds very similar to human laughter.
