Long haul flights are no fun for anyone. However, there are many things you can do to prepare. Guie Hartney shares some actionable advice in the 19th episode of TIPS.
Getting a good night’s sleep will prepare your body for hours of travel. The same goes with drinking lots of water, and very little alcohol and caffeine. You can also better equip your mind by pretending that you are in the same timezone as your destination city already. So, rest up during the flight and keep the screentime to a minimum, too.
Booking your flight as early as possible also allows you to choose an aisle seat. You can also opt for seats by the plane’s wings, away from the bathroom and service area. These are convenient positions that offer fewer disturbances if you want to sleep or rest throughout the flight.
Noise-cancelling headphones also work like a charm during long haul flights. Play some relaxing music, a podcast or a movie you enjoy. Get even comfier by wearing layered clothing. The temperature onboard can be quite unpredictable. Clothing that can be placed or removed easily will help you keep comfortable throughout the flight. So, bring a light jacket, socks and a thicker jacket. You can even consider carrying on your own blanket.
These are just a few tips and tricks to survive long haul flights of ten or more hours. They all make perfect sense, right? We hope you enjoy your flight to Australia, or wherever life takes you! Stay safe!
