Australia’s Gold Coast is a surfing haven. Attracting many tourists and immigrants alike, this gem in the southeastern tip of Queensland is one of the best areas in the country.

In fact, the Gold Coast is one of The Oz’s largest metropolis. Despite being a modern city, the Gold Coast is also filled with World Heritage sites and nature reserves.

Sunshine and sand

The Gold Coast receives almost 300 days of sunshine every year! It’s no wonder this city is frequented by visitors all year round. It is also a great place to live in as you can enjoy 57 km of sand and a nice water temperature of 22 degrees.

Some of the most popular beaches in the Gold Coast are Broadbeach, Burleigh Heads, Mermaid Beach, Miami, Nobby’s, Northcliffe, Palm Beach, and Surfers Paradise. As a premium surf destination, it is also the birthplace of Australia’s best board riding clubs: Kirra Surf Riders, Snapper Surf Riders, and Duranbah Board Riders. The Gold Coast is also home to the largest professional lifeguard service in The Oz.

Diversity

On average, the Gold Coast welcomes 13 million visitors from all over the world each year.  Its residents make up almost 600,000 people in total. This population count also burgeons during the Christmas holidays, with many people opting to spend the winter months away from the cold. You will find a great array of ethnicities in the Gold Coast. There are Aborigines, Africans, Australians, Americans, Europeans, Asians and Latinos that call this place home.

The diversity of this area also includes its wildlife. The Gold Coast is home to more than 1,300 animal species and 1,700 plant species.

Attractions

Aside from its breathtaking beaches, the Gold Coast also has plenty of other beautiful spots. In fact, it has the largest concentration of themed attractions in the South. These parks include Warner Bros Movie World, Sea World, Dreamworld and Wet ‘n’ Wild.

The Gold Coast also has its own bird sanctuary and fauna reserve. There are bush walks and camping grounds all around the area, as well as natural wetlands and sugar cane farms.

Hotels, malls, restaurants and casinos also keep tourists and residents entertained. There really isn’t much time to get bored when you are in the Gold Coast!

 

While we won’t be able to enjoy many of the amazing sights that the Gold Coast have to offer, we are still blessed to have all of its beauty waiting for us. As we rise from this pandemic, it would be such a thrill to get back and reconnect with all the things we love about the Gold Coast.
